Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime error, abnormal program termination error can be very annoying

in any counter strike version be it counter strike 1.6 , counter strike source, or counter strike online can

be easily solved my following the procedure as below:

1. After it shows Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime error, abnormal programe termination, Open Task Manager [ Ctrl+Shift+Esc]

2. Select Processes Tab in task manager and locate ” explorer.exe ” application and press delete to kill/end it as shown below, it will cause your desktop icons to disappear but dont worry they’ll be

restored in the next step:

3. then in Task manager go to the Applications Tab and press “New Task..” button and in the window that pops up, type “explorer” or “explorer.exe” without quotes.

it will bringup the desktop icons again.

4. Also download this patch and extract/put it in the folder where you’ve installed the counter strike game i.e directory above cstrike folder. Download this Patch here

5. Thats it ! now launch your cstrike.exe or hl.exe in the directory where you’ve installed your game.

Hopefully the issue should get resolved by now, If not then please do comment here.

17 error fixt form me December 13, 2012 at 11:21 pm: I know i am late but i finally got this working. I has that problem and it took me long enough to figures it out what the problem was. When you ran Counter-Strike: Condition Zero your in-game settings should not be set as software for video. I changed mine to openGL and 32 bit and it worked for me.
